Due to sustained developments in process technology and manufacturing equipment, HOFFMANN MINERAL has continuously improved its family of Neuburg Siliceous Earth based products and their properties for a host of old and new applications, often confidentially responding to specific demands and challenges from customers. This actual product range includes processed natural minerals such as Sillitin and Sillikolloid, and the treated or refined Aktisil versions.

Elastomers

The numerous applications of Neuburg Siliceous Earth in elastomers include rubber articles for the automotive and construction, machinery and equipment industries, pharmaceutical rubber goods and compounds for the cable and general electrical industry. Aside from the Neuburg Siliceous Earth grades Sillitin and Sillikolloid, which mainly differ with respect to their particle size distribution, use also is often made of the surface treated Aktisil grades. Compared with untreated Neuburg Siliceous Earth grades, the Aktisil grades in many applications impart further improved properties.

Paint and Varnish

The unique morphology of Neuburg Siliceous Earth is due to its composition as a natural combination of corpuscular, crypto-cristalline and amorphous silica and lamellar kaolinite: a loose mixture impossible to separate by physical methods. As a result of natural formation, the silica portion exhibits a round grain shape. This characteristic is at the origin of further benefits of Neuburg Siliceous Earth for applications in paints and varnishes.

Since as far back as 1905 HOFFMANN MINERAL specializes in the extraction, processing and upgrading of mineral raw materials. During the last 30 years, new technologies were developed for the coating, homogenizing of such products and the adjustment of novel inherent properties.

HOFFMANN MINERAL actually modifies by microcoating thousands of tons of natural and synthetic inorganic base materials, such as wollastonite, silicas, muscovite, zinc oxide, clays, or aluminum and magnesium hydroxide. In all cases, the supply of large quantities can be assured as well as conformance with quality and purity standards.
